You think they will hurt there engine running 5w-30 regular oil?
Why come to this forum seeking approval to use the wrong oil  There are many oils that meet 502.00.

VW bought people a lot of new engines cuz they were using "5w-30 regular oil".

There are just too many to list....
Let's see, use cheap oil and change it all the time, or use the correct oil and change it every 10k miles (like the people who designed and built the car say to do)...hrmmmmm......

I dunno, that IS a tough one.... And we wonder why so many others ask the same thing; if it's OK to use the wrong oil. "But my best friend's mother-in-law's brother is using X brand oil in all his cars and they run fine"

I agree. It is cheaper to use correct oil because you change it less.

100% syntetic oil with grade 5w30 or 5w40 which meets VW 502.00/505.00 approval should be ok. But check the owner's manual :D
