Just want to verify that I would be a real cotton-headed ninny muggins not to replace my rear main seal whilst doing a clutch replacement. I don’t have the part on hand, nor do any local parts stores or dealerships. I was hoping to get this thing back together today, but waiting for shipping means I won’t be able to finish until next week, probably... :(

My Rear Crankshaft Seal

Thanks for your input!

If it’s not your DD and you can wait it out for a week - do it.

It’s not a job you want to do twice

Fact...mine weren't looking that bad and I replaced them just to never have that issue

Personally I've done the clutch in my car three times and never touched the seal. Inspected every time, but dry as a bone. And that's after 325k miles.... But I was also too lazy to do it, and it's my daily.

I go to that same school If Ain't Leaking Leave it Be. But his appears to be leaking.
Not a hard job, but no room for error.

Yeah just noticed he shared a photo, definitely on the beginning end of leaking. I'd change that one in particular.

It only takes getting bit one time, I'd look at the oil pan and reseal that too if it looked like it was leaking or sweating...way easier with the clutch out of the way...I like to stay ahead or at least try to especially oil leaks

That's leaking. Not a lot, but it is......

And it's a PITA to take it apart again to change it later, so.... yeah.
