The strange whine I had in my B5 is back. I think I have it narrowed down to a bad rear wheel bearing thanks to a friend that was outside when I drove by.
My question is, does anyone know if the ABS tone ring or whatever mechanism that the sensor picks up is in the hub assembly?
Looking on the NAPA website, they have a few that say No ABS, for ~$80.00 or so, and one for ~$230.00 that does not indicate ABS or not.

Some of our vendor sites do not indicate ABS either. I don't want to run into the situation I did with my 05, and put the wrong one in. The anti-skid tends to do all kinds of crazy things...

Found the noise!
The B5 does have a hub assembly on the rear. The ABS tone ring is built into the back of the hub. The ABS sensor is held in with an o-ring and a clip. Pretty simple to swap out.
I have a video of the noise, if someone can tell me how to upload it. It sounds like a kazoo!
I had no noise at low speeds. Replacement sure quieted the car.
