I just turned 300,000 miles on my 1998 New Beetle:). The NB runs better that when new. I must give credit to many members on the TDI Club and it's valued vendors in assisting me it obtaining this mileage. I originally was going to give up on the car @ 300,000 but will continue on to 400,000 miles as I am now retired. Thanks TDI CLUB.:) :)

Nice! Proof that if you take care of her she'll you well. Beware of the rust that can start to form on compromised frame rails. Our cars are now starting to turn to the point that we'll start to see some corrosion, and preventing it early is the key.

Great to hear this!

With results like this, the costs proper maintenance are just a minor expense.

All 1998 NBs were standard shift 5sp. No automatics were available in 1998. I lucked out.:) :)
You could get an automatic 1998 NB TDI, it was a delayed introduction. ealy on they were all Sport models with 5-speeds. I worked there when they came out. I even PDI'd some. :D

Congrats on the milestone. Just goes to show you what proper care can do. Actually, for a 12 year old TDI 300,000 miles is kinda on the low side :p .

We are creaping up there with the 99.5. Slowly. Problem is that we have too many cars and the milage gets spread out between them. The 99.5 still gets the most use though.
