upgrade steering wheel

Hey all. I'm looking to buy a used TDI and one of the "nice to haves" is a steering wheel with controls. Wondering how much it would cost to have one installed. Looks like I can find them on ebay...

What age of car? People fit the Mk5 ones over here in the Mk4's and add in the looms etc, they look better than the Mk4 option.

Hook me up with some of those posts. I've not found any info using search. What's a loom.

I upgraded mine for the leather. I've been wondering about getting the controls working.
Asked my vw dealer tech about getting it going. He said he'd never fixed one but, suspects it's hooked up to the CCM and that wiring harness is different. Also, mentioned a part called a clock spring.

I'd love to hear about anyone's experiences with this upgrade.
