fuel pressure regulator?

I am converting a '99 Nissan Frontier from a gas 2.4 ltr. to an '04 BEW 1.9 ltr TDI. the Nissans fuel pump produces 52 psi at 35 gpm. The Volkswagen pump is rated at 10 psi and 31 gpm. Need I worry about the pressure difference damaging the injection pump or not? I know where to get a diesel rated fuel pressure regulator. Any one with experience please chime in, any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Just a low pressure pump to transfer fuel to the inlet of the rotary vane pump that is bolted to the end of the head on the BEW engine.
