the imaginary kind
I have a junkyard that has 3 1986 jettas. I hit a tire on the freeway and blew out the grill, bumper, and sheet metal piece blow bumper (what's that called). Car-Parts.com claims the parts for a 86 jetta aren't compatible with 85 Golf, but visually they look extremely similar, minus the bumper turn signals being a different size. I'm more concerned with the sheet metal piece underneath the bumper, what is that called, it's not considered the radiator support, or is it? If anyone can confirm or deny the use of 1986 Jetta parts (the bumper, below bumper sheet metal, & grill) on a 1985 Golf (diesel).

Thanks for you help. $200 too much to buy and try out without some research.

p.s. 8 cars around me and not one stopped. Come on people.
