Rear Hatch Question on Q7 TDI

I recently purchased a 2015 Audi Q7 TDI. So I'm new to the Audi brand. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. However, when my rear hatch closes, it closes a bit hard. It seems like the closing mechanism lets go at the end to allow the hatch to close with a bit of a thunk. I've not experienced this with any of the other automatic rear hatches closing mechanisms. For example my Lexus RX350 closes softly. Is this normal for the Audi?

My 2011, also closes pretty hard. Sounds like ours does very similar things. When we first got it, asked the dealership, and they said it was normal. Buddy has one as well, and his sounds the same way. Surprising for such an expensive vehicle, but I believe this to be the norm.

Just curious. When you purchased the Q7 do you remember it closing differently? Maybe you can stop by the dealer and observe another Q7 closing, although they probably only have 2016/2017 on the lot. My Q5 hatch closes quietly and gently. Completely different model, of course.
