It would be great to see some MB's show up for the GTG this Oct.

Funny that we do these GTG's still, we haven't owned a VW TDI for 5 years in Oct would you believe.

We just enjoy the people and some have been coming since the begining. :D

My Benz is broken. :( Anyone have a spare 603 head laying around (that isn't cracked)?

Sprinters definitely count. Awesome vans. Though we spoke with our FedEx driver about the Sprinters they use and apparently the drivers hate them since they are so narrow...

I don't have a spare 603 head, but I do have a spare W123 wheel and tire...

Its never going to be faster.

Reminds me of a 240d owner, automatic, I talked to the other day...thats a SLOW car.

Really? That makes me not really want an ecodiesel. The 300D 2.5 is about as slow as I want to go.

It could just be because I'm used to the TDI. I should get some 0-60 times. It might not even be putting down stock power.

Yes the HP rating for the 240D is ~65hp and the car weighs over 3K lbs.

According to the factory specs the maximum rated engine RPM (no load) is 5800 and the maximum speed is 89 MPH in 4th gear.

So they only got 7 hp out of adding a turbo? Woot!

So what if the A/C is on in the Benz? 50 HP or thereabouts, 3000 lbs. Excellent. And if it's an automatic? Even better.

I used to drive a 1990 ecodiesel, and I have a 1975 240D I've been driving since I was 16. I can tell you, when I first got in the ecodiesel, it was like getting into a sports car. Lower gearing, 5-speed IIRC, lower weight, etc. I timed the 240D 0-60 every day I pulled out of the driveway onto a 55mph road on the way to high school. (I would warm the engine before I left) 36 seconds exactly 0-60 time, and that's only the indicated time.

If you have access to 50 cetane fuel 150 mph +/- 3 MPH, got mine to 144 MPH before running out of road. If 42/44 cetane fuel look for about 130 to 135 MPH is all. Amazing what a proper fuel does for these cars.

^ compu - ouch, the undercoating is a killer.

Old Navy - what is new? The tail light surrounds?

Thanks tditom for coming forth. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Full window tint, one booster seat and one car seat for two boys, lots of dust and some very fine sport tires, and a Glock 29 in the cubby under driver seat. :D

Just did a fuel up, as per usual not a soul around and 539 miles and 18.4 gallons for $51.50 total. That's 29.2 MPG and all city except 130 miles of two lane back road curvy and hilly Ozark Hills back road trip. Nothing like zipping through 35 MPH marked curves at 65 or 70 MPH for waking you up and making you feel alive with a fine rear wheel drive car. :D
