Where is the coolant temp sensor located?

Hi there, I’ve recebtly acquired a 2005 Touran 2.0 TDI (136bhp - AZV engine) and I’ve a p0118 Coolant Tempe sensor fault, but damned if I can find the location of the sensor! Can anyone advise?

Not familiar with the AZV on this side of the pond, but the CTS on a BHW 2.0 PD engine is in the coolant tee under the tandem pump on the back of the engine.

That's the spot! The new CTS should come with a fresh o-ring, and you'll probably want to also replace the plastic retainer clip. Good luck!

Yes, pretty sure that it was a Bosch OE unit. I think that Febi sells a kit that includes the clip.

LOL. I once had a dealership parts guy tell me I had to buy a water pump because they couldn't get just the o-ring. I said: Check this part number. The parts guy then said: Oh, it will be here tomorrow.
