Hey Guys,
I was adding some windshield wiper fluid the other day and I noticed that the Coolant Expansion Tank was about a half inch below the min line.

Is this OK? Should I be topping it up with something? If so, what??

Sorry, still uber-newb! Thanks!

Hello,

Top off with distilled water. Then start looking for leaks. I found little pink "chalk" marks on one of my hose connections and another on the plastic coupling coming from the front of the head. Watch the levels to see how long it takes to leak back down. Leaks usually start off slow; but almost always get worse.

Good Luck,

Scott

Kray-Z,
you will see pink stains leading up to the leak...so long as you have VW G12 Coolant.

Mine weren't quite that obvious, perhaps because the leaks were small and slow. In my case, the stains looked like little chalk marks about the size of BBs. It appeared the coolant would seap out and then evaporate before having the chance to run off anywhere. I guess it all depends on how hot the location of the leak is. ;) Good Luck!
