So I have waited for about 6 months to get my ip back and installed on my 2000 golf auto tdi. It quit about a year ago when an employee filled the tank with gas. I had the pump fixed and put back on. 6 months passed and it wouldn't start again. The mechanic started the car after timimg the pump and notices a blown head gasket. The gasket was replaced about a year ago. Engine has 217k miles on it. I think it is time to call it a day and sell the dam* thing. I have 3 other tdi manuals and not a problem at all. I bought this golf with 200k on it. What to do?

Is this a TDI mechanic or just a "mechanic?" Head gaskets on cars with stock engines do not have head gasket failures unless the engine was severely overheated. I doubt it ever needed replacing in the first place.

"If" it needs replacing now, it could be because it was not replaced/torqued properly the last time. New head bolts must always be used and strict adherance to the torque spec is needed.

I think you need a real TDI mechanic to look it over and diagnose.
