Hey Rick, how's life with the chip now that you've had it a while?

Hey it's alright! I notice ya need to be a little more delicate on the shifts or it sort of grabs a little more as you engage, but that's about it...sure is fun to get on it now and then /images/graemlins/smile.gif. My mileage around town appears to be the same 44-45....changed back to stock egr to see if it sweetens it a little, and still working on a homegrown ccv filter. I've been toying with the idea of switching the bat back to the front and seeing if the remote oil filter will still have room on the bat tray...the tires boil too easily with that extra 40 pds in the trunk /images/graemlins/smile.gif

well, I went out and bought some new cutters for my die-grinder, so I will be making the final trimming on my CCV mod - maybe Sunday. runonbeer says that he has a nice bracket he's willing to give me, so I can probably slide it into the one single hole in a Beetle's nose that DOESN'T already have stuff in it. I just need to meet up with him sometime before he splits for the north country in his brand new TDI motor. Boy that looks purty! Unfortunately, a TB job is looming on the horizon before September, planning now...

I wonder if he will gimme the long version of that story if I offer to look after Tessa for him (scratches head) /images/graemlins/cool.gif

If I move my bat back, you want the long cable and terminal clamps? Not sure how much it would cost to ship, but cheaper than buyin it I'm bettin /images/graemlins/smile.gif

So when are we going to do a GTG? I'm up for any Saturday (after this one) or Sunday afternoon.

It looks like the Houston guys are going to meet May 22nd, so we could either do it in Denton to meet the guys from OK, or find a place between DFW and Houston to meet up with the guys down south.

Some where near Denton on the 8th is my vote. (Does the speedway lock there parking lots?)

We might have to talk! Gonna be in Dallas on May 15th/16th, as close as I'll be for a while....

I'll look and see if we are gonna be down that way that weekend...if I change back, I'll still send you the cable...it's 2 or 3 bucks a foot and no need for you to pay that if you ar gonna use it..I'll let ya know. Need to do some calcilating tonight with a tape.

I may be in on the 15th or 16th, need to check the calendar. If need and the wife approves we maybe meet and work on the cars if needed at the house. I got tools, air, jacks and stands. Since I am new I don't have the diesel TB tools yet (need to see what comes out for the PD).

I have a keg in the garage, smoker and grill outback.

Kicker is I live in Arlington, TX.

I have done Scirocco Tech Days at the house why not a diesel tech day.

If I do it is one of those hidden suprises because they gave me a total price that I will have to finance and I got it in writing from the owner of Cable VW Mr. Greg Cable the only thing I will have to pay is normal TT&L for the state of TX which is about 1k. Isn't that part of the dealer experience, hehehehhe. My last new car I bought from some internet site like Cars.com, I forget. Only saw the salesman to drive in and sign the papers, check was made out so they couldn't add nothin, they explained some options and how they operate and off I go in about 20 minutes. It was good for me. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

let me clarify what I meant when I said we do pay excise tax, Blue...as residents if we buy a new car we pay excise as part of the tt&L I think, and if we bring in a car from out-of-state during a period of some months after the sale we pay it, that is all I meant. If you got a firm figure for tt&L then I don't see why it would be any different...sorry if I confused you.

Hey mgwerks, i'm gonna r&r the timing belt again today if you want to squeeze your way out of work again for a tutorial.
I've got to pull the oil pan too, unless you happen to have the 27" long crank pulley counter hold tool

There is a VW "Bug In" at Texas Metroplex Speedway in Ennis on May 15 with May 16 as alternate day in case of rain. For those who hven't been, it caters mostly to air cooled VWs, but there is always a contingent water cooled also. We couldn't do much wrenching there, but we could meet maybe.
Costs about $12 a head I think. I am planning to be there anyway. If any one thinks they might be there E-mail me and
I can give you my cell phone # to call to link up there. It
has a good sized swap meet as well as vendors, dealers, etc.
It is a good place to spend 4 or 5 hours walking around looking, talking.

Again I offer my services just let me know!

I might be their guys, when is the final date, I think I will pick up the car on Saturday! I am so excited! Who does the timing belts around here for a good price, and does good work, I want to do it for safe measure! email me jps33@earthlink.net hope I can make it! /images/graemlins/eek.gif
