Ok, so this morning it was about -7 when I went out to start my car at 11am.
Thinking to myself: it's a little cold out, so I am going to cycle the glow plugs 3 times....good, right?
Wrong! Go to crank, it cranks for a few, then seems like its gonna go, lots of smoke, then nothing...premature.
So, cycle the glow plugs 2 more times (about 10 seconds each time) and good to go again...right?
Wrong again! Same deal - no start after crank, seems like its going to go, lots of big white smoke...premature again.
So, I'm going to give one more chance...cycle 2 more times with the plugs, then bam! it starts, smoke! noise! clatter! and 30 seconds later, off I go to 2000rpm shifts until warm.
Okay: So I have a few hypothese (spelling) on why its not starting well:
1. I have one glow plug that has to be changed, I am going to do that on sunday...however, there should still be the ability to start with 3 good plugs.
2.. The fuel...well, I filled up about a week and a half ago, from a high volume station, they mostly run winter blend year round up here, and I even put a good shot of white power service in it...but the problem I am describing sounds almost like a gelled fuel situation.
3. I am an idiot.
Chime in, let me know what you think!
