Hey guys, i've been using Lubro Moly 505.01 5w-40 for the past 160k km with no issues, but I feel like its time to try something different. I've been doing a lot of research and reading regarding Mobil 1 and Rotella T6 and can't make up my mind on which one to change too. What do you guys suggest? Appreciate your opinions.

If what you use works well and doesn't cost too much, don't change it. No need to introduce an unknown when when you have a well working solution.

Are you guys talking about the purple LM 5w-40 bottle? I use the 505.01 spec (blue bottle) which is a group III oil. I wanted to move on to a Group IV oil base.

Been reading alot of posts from Drivbiwire and from his posts, I think the best one to go with is Mobile 1 TDT 5w-40. Come on what do others think?

Any of the oils you've listed would be fine for your PD Jetta. I'd pick based on price as T6 & TDT both seem to do wonders for cam/lifter longevity where the 5w30 505.01 oils don't appear to have done so well. Then again there's nothing wrong with a 5w40 505.01 oil either.

But since you're in Canadia, why not give Petro-Canada Duron 5w40 a shot?

T6 is a Group IV, from all the reading I've done TDT is definitely a Group III semi synthetic.

In this case, T6 is the easy choice.

T6 is Group III+ (Shell XVHI). TDT is *probably* a Group III/IV mix. No semi-synthetics here :)
