There are quite a few reviews of the Q5 TDI on You Tube, also. Many of them make the argument that the TDI is the best of the Q5s (2L and 3L TFSI). I have driven both the 2L and 3L TFSI, and while they are nice, nothing matches the power and efficiency of the 3.0 TDI. Just took my son to college in my Q5 TDI, fully loaded, ac blasting. Great trip and mid to upper 30s mpg. I really don't think anything else compares. I'll be really depressed if the 3.0L TDI is discontinued in the US market. A fantastic engine. I'd love to get an A6 TDI one day. I love my X3d and it does do better on efficiency, but of course it can't match the power.

I drove my Q5 TDI to Baltimore in May to go on a cruise. With four people and the back completely full it averaged close to 38mpg with the cruise control set. We drove the Passat TDI to Jacksonville last year with the same load and averaged 48mpg.

38 mpg is great for that trip in a Q5. 48 mpg is much better, though. Too bad the 2L TDIs are probably not coming back.

I'm new to the party but already very impressed. To my simple mind nothing else compares with a turbo-diesel. Performance in the rpm range where we actually drive, economy, and longevity!

My overall MPG, per Fuelly, at 37,500-miles is 30.5! I couldn't be happier. A pleasure to drive.

I just broke 45,000-miles with the Q5. Per Fuelly, my overall (city/hwy) mpg is 30! Am in the middle of a road trip via I-40 to Crested Butte, CO via Moab,UT. Have put 2,200 miles on the odometer and will add another 1,800 on the three-day ride home. My overall mpg for the trip so far (per Fuelly) is 34.5mpg! I hit 34mpg on I-70 to Grand Junction (cruise at 85mph). Cruise is usually set at 5mph over limit on interstates. I am amazed to do this well with a fully loaded car. No issues with engine - did add 1/2-qt of oil before initiating road trip. Original Goodyear LS2s will have to be replaced on getting home. 45K service will be a little late, at about 47K.

Audi will NOT get this car back! Enjoy the ride.

May have to keep my eye out for dealers selling buybacks. I've always lusted after the Q5.

I've had mine for six months now, and just did the 10k oil change. 32k total on vehicle.

Last tank of fuel was 37.6 mpg, with overall average 34.6. More power than gasser, better economy. What's not to like? :)

Yep, I'm pretty in love with my Q5 TDI 's efficiency. The dashboard always says 38-41 and the only suspense is how much it overshot the mark when I do the math at fuelly.com. You can see the result in my signature below.
