Hi does anyone know if I can fit an ecu in my 03 golf PD150 with an earlier ecu? The part number 038 906 019 is the same but the last 2 letters are different hh and kg? I have a dtc 18000 with the kg ecu but if I plug in the hh it goes away?
Thanks

98 Jetta TDI AHU 1.9L (944 TDI swap in progress) I moved so now i got nothing but an AHU in a garage on a pallet.
As long as it's the same engine but a different year, dont see why not.

I'm not a pro at ECU matching. I would wait till somone who knows for sure chimes in before you buy.
So what happend to your ecu?

I bought the car from a garage with the dtc 1800 fault which they couldn’t sort, I want the engine for a mk1 conversion so I replaced the map sensor, cleaned the Earth points and checked the wiring with no difference I borrowed a ecu which cleared the fault but had the different letters on the part number. I bought another ecu with correct part number and the fault came back!

I believe you will need an immobilizer delete even though the immobilizer is in the cluster it communicates the info with the ECU to "match".

Sorry about posting in 2 different places, thought maybe this was the wrong place for this, do think the other ecu will work as I don’t want to pay for the Immo delete if it won’t work.
Thanks

I'm certainly not sure. European spec cars/engines Im not familiar with the features/additions you mention. Sorry. I wonder if the guys at Ross Tech could/would be able to answer your questions.
