2002 Jetta Sacramento (bad trans)

Yet another 01M failure. A little over 200k on the car, in good shape otherwise, engine is good, interior is good.

We will either be looking for good used and cheap 01M to replace the one that took a dump, or we'd be satisfied to just let the whole car go cheap to someone who wants to do a 5spd swap.

Willing to pay $500ish for a transmission, or sell the car for $2k.

Car is currently in Sacramento at Shaz's shop (www.thetdiguy.com).

We might just part this one out. Engine is good, brand new timing belt, well maintained. Any offers?

Talk to ben. He just pulled an engine from pick and pull down there but left the auto trans.... Of course who knows if its any good.

Swap in the 5 speed! And keep it forever!

If I had space and time I'd be all over a 5spd swap, or even just replace with used unit but alas it's just not going to happen.

This is a good project for someone!

Like I said, 2k= running driving..... $1300 seems more appropriate.

Meh, what's $700 among TDI friends!?

I still really want to run a TDI Beetle in LeMons next year, so if you or anyone can get me one in any condition (the worse the better...like from the bottom of a lake for example), PLEASE let me know!!! Preferably around $500, but I can work with maybe up to $1000.

I just last weekend bought a 98 beetle for $1000 that needs a motor, but I'm planning on driving it.

Maybe keep an eye on the junkyards for a builder, or put a want ad on Craigslist
