Hi all,

I am trying to figure out if the rear subframe mounting points in the North American Passat are the same as the 09/11 Passat as well as the CC/Tiguan.

The US subframe has a different part number than the others, but it may be due to the design being "cheaper", probably part of the cost-cutting moves that VW instituted for this variant.

Part number 561-505-315 B, for the NA variant, does not appear to have isolation bushings and mounts directly to the vehicle, whereas 3C0-505-235 AC (and other variations) have isolation bushings.

I would like to find out if the mounting point locations are identical to see if it would be possible to install a 4motion rear subframe in this car.

Does anyone know this? Looking at the design changes, it appears the car was stretched well forward of the mounting points, and VW does not usually change things for the sake of changing things, so it is likely that the subframe from a Tiguan (which is the same as the 4motion subframe for euro Passats and CCs) would bolt in.

Thanks!

I've been looking into this further and I think they might have the same mounting point locations, even though the cars have a different wheelbase.

Here is a photo of the N.A. Passat rear subframe:

Here's the comparable Tiguan FWD crossmember (shared with euro Passat):

Other than the exhaust hanger locations, they look very similar, if not identical.

I guess I will have to measure up both a Passat and a Tiguan to be sure.
