Back in Oct 06 I had the M6 recall done on the EGR cooler on my jetta tdi wagon. It took care of the engine coolant temperature light coming on every time I started the car when the engine was cold. That engine coolant temp light problem is back now, about 8 weeks ago. VW mechanic replaced the thermostat, and the sensor...to no avail. He says he's got quite a few others (he's a VW-only shop) and he still has no solution to the problem. Check engine light is permanently on now.
I saw one comment here on failed replacement EGR... but the fact that the mechanic says he has others too makes me wonder how widespread this issue is.
Anyone else having this issue, 2 years after the recall?
