my new Peugeot 806 has a gt15 turbo just like my B4.

Is the wastegate open when the two pipes are connected by the boost control solenoid ?

So if i wanted to disable the turbo by permanently opening the wastegate presumable i just pull the pipes off of the solenoid and connect them together ?

i am getting a rattling noise between 2000 and 3000 if accelerating moderately or hard which i guess is when the wastegate is at its most active

i want to disable the turbo and go for a test drive to see what happens

Vacuum pulls the wastegate open. I believe the solenoid valve is driven by PWM.
Philip, unless you've a boost gauge connected, I'd be careful about driving it with the control disconnected. These HDIs can build plenty of boost sharpish!

Doh. Sorry, didn't read... yup, connect'em together, should kill the boost.

I'd look at the pump tho...

tried it
noise is still there
i can't say that it was that much slower without the turbo /images/graemlins/confused.gif

i think that the noise sounds like a leaking downpipe or exhaust manifold

maybe it is linked to a lack off boost, or maybe i'm doing something wrong

Get a gauge on it then. OBD Explorer won't respond quick enough.
On mine (it's a ten LED bargraph, so allow a psi or so...),
I get a 1bar maximum. This isn't at full load tho, it's pulled back to about 12psi at full load.
That max boost equates to steady state cruising at about 80mph in the GV. Faster or slower, boost drops off...

Built it myself. LM3914 IC and a couple of pots. Basic, but it works. You could always just plug an analogue meter into the MAP pin of the ECU- 2.5v or so at atmospheric, and about 4v as I recall at 1bar...
