1986 MkII TDI conversion.

I have a 1.6 turbo diesel in the car and want to get rid of the motor and put in a motor out of a passat (a 96 to 97 z code motor) if anyone wants a 1.6td then i have one for sale. If anyone knows where i can get a wrecked passat or the total motor swap then please let me know. -marshall

Is there a reason you are specifying a Passat motor? The Jetta motors are the same, and the newer motors are slightly higher in power and efficiency. ('99.5-2003)

IIRC... The 1Z has no EGR, using a 1Z or AHU will be easier due to no immob and no funky engine mounting to deal with.

UK 1z had EGR, and immo from 96 (only key, reader and control box for immo needed not the cluster aswell) not sure how the US cars were eqiped but keep this in mind just in case.
