Back in 2004 I built this when body kits were popular, we'll it's been in my shop since 07, i'm going to resurrect it I'm gonna take the body kit off but leave the topper on, since my mk2 gti I'm waiting for parts I'm going to start on this one

I just picked up the motor from Jimbote which is a 2010 cjaa

I also got the wiring harness complete

I just picked up the Dsg with 55,000 miles on it

I'm really excited with this one, the harness is massive, I'll start there, i'm going to use the mk6 mounts and make plates to mount them to, I have the cluster I'm not sure how I'll make that work in my dash cause I'm keeping that so will see

Hey Dean, nice idea! I was just at the local wrecking yard and they have a '09 CBEA Jetta totalled that I can get the engine wiring and ecu for relatively cheap...not sure what it will go into yet but might as well grab it!

... None :S
I've grown to like the DSG so much that if I did a swap I would want it to be a DSG.

Looking forward to how this pans out :)

Haven't had time SC to finish it I'm just buired in work, i'm hoping before Christmas, right now I'm working on pouring approaches to my shop, after 13yrs without and using wood ramps it's about time, wife wants the cars out of the yard so a 28x50 addition to the shop is in the planning stages,

My first step was to get the abs put on my truck, today I took the spindle off the truck and pressed out the wheel bearing, now time to machine the spindle to fit the new bearing, here you see the difference in size, i took it over to a friend of mine and he will mill out the spindle to accept the new bearing, i have the Mk5 abs rings I'll be pulling sat to take over to him, it's not something he will start till after Christmas but it's going on, I'll be stripping the bay some this weekend getting ready to mock up mounts

How much larger is the diameter of the bearing? Is the knuckle strong enough after machining?

I didn't mic it we will strengthen the outside if needed, he didn't seem to think it would be big deal, will just have to see

are there perhaps "off the shelf" bearings you could order that would allow the use of the abs hub with the stock OD of the knuckle? Id check with some of the larger bearing suppliers like McGuire bearing

I have researched bearings and for what I need I haven't found anything, so I'm going to go with milling the spindle and fit the bearing, i'm getting the other one disassembled and take it up to get it done, i'm also working on the abs rings disassembly and machine them

The other option is to swap in mk3 abs spindles into your mk1 hubs with mk3 bearings. They drop right in. The only down side to this is your going to need to get custom axles, ends to fit as the dsg ones will not. But you already know your axles are going to be too long and you need them shortened.

I would be very interested in potentially some mounts from you as I have a 02S I am now putting into my mk1. I wasn't planning on keeping the abs pickup, but may do so since I need a speedo for my mtdi.

Any updates?

Mk3 rears spindle and disk brakes with ABS should bolt right up too.

The mk3 is different, the Mk5 uses a magnetic ring and the ring count is different anyways have to use the mk5
