How to replace headlight bulb

I looked at the How to section here and on vwvortex, but all the links are bad.

Can someone point me to a quick how to replace my driver's side low beam on a '03 Golf?

I got a laugh from the manual, as it says to have the dealer do it, as they have the special tools needed to do this.

-Look at back of headlight assembly
-Swing the silver metal retaining clip towards the fender
-pull plastic assembly out from right side and then left locking tab
-and there you have the bulb!

Maximum5 min job,so dealer woul charge you min .5 hrs

Perfect, thanks for the link.

Just had to do a 20% shrink on my left hand to get it to fit in there.

After figuring out that whoever replaced the last bulb, put the spring clip on backwards, I got it all done. I could not understand why the clip did not even touch the bulb, but instead the bulb was just floating and wobbling in side this wire hanger thing.

Now to figure out to the enlarge my hand back to normal size :eek:

I wear a size 15 wedding ring and I have no problems,so unless you have root vegetables for fingers you shouldn't either!:D

The manual says to have the dealer replace headlight bulbs because they are suppose to use a Headlamp Alignment System to insure that the bulbs are properly aligned. Wether or not they actually use it now thats a different story.
