No signal/com from either rear door control Module (J388)

Took my car to local body shop after banging the passenger front door on a snow bank. They removed the door skin and repaired it. At the same time when removing the door skin a piece fell out of the door window switch so they replaced it with a new one. Apparently they got some codes afterwards no doubt from the replaced window switch and they used their handheld plug-in code reader to erase codes. When I got the car back there were some codes (I remember an air bag code for one) but I was able to delete the fault codes and recode the car using my Vag Com.
Later on I realized that neither of my rear windows would operate nor do the locks work. I checked with the Vag and found the following error(s)
01333 Rear Door Control Module Right (J388)
No signal/communication
I get the same error for the Left door. I've used my Vag to see if I may have inadvertently switched from 4 door to a 2 door car but it's set correctly. I've gone through the following: Central Electronics, Central Conv., Instruments, CAN Bus, Driver Door electrics, Passenger Door Electrics. Other than the 2 fault codes (Right and Left) everything looks good. One thing I find odd is the rear window lock button on the drivers' door feels funny to me. Also when using the Vag Com if I push this switch once I am not able to communicate with the Driver Door Electrics; however if I push it again I then can connect to this module. I have also gotten a code several times but not consistently that may be the issue.

00096 Driver Door Central Locking (Safe) Motor (V161)
012 Electric Fault in Circuit

I find it hard to imagine that both control modules failed at the same time. I've checked all the fuses especially those for the rear door modules and all are fine. It just seems that somehow I've shut off the the control modules in the rear doors or I have a failure (wiring/switch etc.) somewhere along the route to these modules. Today I took it back to the shop and had them remove both the outer door skin and the inner door panel on the passenger door they'd repaired to check for anything that might be unplugged. All was connected. We then removed the plug between the door and car, cleaned it, checked for cracked or broken wires under the boot and again all was fine.
Sooo I'm a bit perplexed. I've tried to disconnect the battery (both +/-) and then connected them together as I found in another post for 10-minutes but this didn't help either. Lastly I checked the charge on the batter with a VOM and found the batter to be at 12.37 volts. I remember reading that unless the batter is at 12.5 volts or greater. I've put a charger on the battery in the meantime.
Any ideas??
Thanks

Full scan would help. Are you sure you have not messed the CCCM coding? SAFE is an Euro option and requires different door locks.

I am not sure if the CCCM coding has been altered. I really don't know how the handheld scanner the shop used worked or what it might have done. I'm not aware of doing anything to the CCCM myself but I'm not sure how I would do it and may have done something by mistake. Below is a scan taken tonight:

The radio has been a problem for some time so I have disconnected it. That is why it throws a code. The locks have rear door/windows have always worked since I disconnected the radio so it's nothing new.

Although the door electric passenger shows an intermittent fault the window works and so does the door lock. I did a scan to find all the modules and have that if it would be of use.

Any ideas appreciated.

Address 52 is incorrectly coded for sure. Address 42 is coded weird as well. Both of these codes are responsible for 5-door coding so it might case all other errors.

Check out available coding options and compare to your car mirrors/doors. Mines are both set to 1269 which translates:
1024 - Safe-Motor not installed
0128 - 5-door chassis
0064 - Exit lights
0032 - Heated mirrors
0016 - Autorun active
0004 - Mirror turn signals
0001 - Rear lid unlock button
----
1269

If you have any other options (Ambient lights, Memory for Seats), just add to the total.

Does your car have memory mirror (dipping down in reverse) on the left side? You have memory seat, I believe memory mirror was a part of that package.

I do have the left dipping mirror but it hasn't worked for a year or so no doubt to my screwing around with the coding. I have it checked off on some menu but likely don't have it correctly coded on the door. Suggestions?

Thanks
Steve

Add 256 to 1269 = 1525

And if you have lights at the bottom of the mirrors (you might, not sure what package you are) add another 2 (1527). That should cover all your options, unless you have modded your interior door handles to have illumination (Touareg option, some fabrication required).

Thanks, that did the trick. As long as I switch the mirrors to R and then put the car in reverse the mirror goes down. I have to switch back to O to get it back up. Is there a sequence I need to follow to "teach" the mirror to come back up on its own if left the R position?

That should be covered in a manual. I will find out when I install my memory mirrors :D .

I think it actually is working. As it turns out when you go forward and reach a speed where the doors lock the mirror comes back up. Pretty neat. Of course now they have folding mirrors, but I'll stick with what I have.

Again thanks for all the help.

Hey Sootman - your signiture statement is a hoot; "A friend will help you move. A good friend will help you move a body"!! ... .... Drummer can we hear a rim shot? Bada Bing!

I see that your MY06.5 TDI has the right door mirror reverse dip function, as does my MY06.5 TDI Pkg 2 mit Navi MFD2 DVD with active stereo amplifier 1K6 035 456, driving the OE 10 speaker audio system. The OE CD Changer is located under the middle arm rest.
Your VIN: 3VWDT71K26M030315 My VIN: 3VWDT81KX6M025529

Now,,, Having read my lengthy introduction,, here's the wind up. What is the production data Mo/Yr. of your TDI and is your installed radio a OE package option? I see by your VCDS print out that the Navi/radio is not present. I'm about to follow the Dynaudio (EOS component) up grade trail blazed by Maloosheck. ...My starting piont is that of a MKV Jetta,, OEM equipped with the active stereo amplifier option** to start, hence much of the F&R door wiriing to the external amp (under drivers seat) to the Navi is present. ** Official VW option name; VW Digital Sound System (DSS)

Is the production of MKV Jetta's (TDI model or otherwise) with the right mirror reverse dip function limited? Is the same true of MKV Jetta's with external active amplifiers? I would suspect a MKV GLI version Jetta might have an up rated stereo from the git go..

This is precisely how the right mirror reverse dip function operates on our MY06.5 MKV TDI. A MY96 Audi S6 Kombi I owned for ten years had this reverse mirror dip function. Very useful when city parking the wagon. The S6 had a 5sp manual gearbox with the dipped mirror returning to status quo once out of reverse position. The feature was an instant hit.

No signal from passenger rear door control module (J388)

Hi guys. ive been reading through this forum and i seem to have the same problem. MY rear passenger door only is non responsive. i have bought a vagcom system and plugged it all in. everything in the car is functioning perfectly, except the rear passenger door. the door has absolutely no functionality. it opens from the inside with the handle, as this is manually done, however it does not lock using the central locking mechanism and the window also does not work. The only way i can lock the door is if i do it manually from the side using my key to push the little red lever to lock the door manually. when i do the search on vagcom, it cannot even access the door module! this is what comes up:
