Wasn't sure what section to put this in:
I drive a 2006 TDI (BRM).
I currently have a 6 speed transmission on order from Europe because my 5 speed has failed me. When it arrives, I would like to replace the 6th gear of the new transmission with the 5th gear of the old one. Both of these transmission are O2Q. If my calculations are correct, this would mean for delightful low revs on the highway (1650ish RPM at 60 mph)
I know people swap out 5th gear all the time for a lower ratio. Is removing a 6th gear from a 6 speed 02Q and swapping in a 5th gear from a 5 speed 02Q mechanically possible?
