Should I put new shock absorbers in a 2000 diesel Jetta ?

Once a month I take it off road through a bumpy forest.
I didn't and one of my spring broke after which I replaced both, springs and shock absorbers. My 2000 Jetta has almost 300k miles and rear shocks were original, so they've taken a lot of beating.

Are yours original?
Why not then? I'd worry more about poking a hole in my oil pan. Got a skid plate?
That pan will crack pretty easily (aluminum).

How many miles has the car got on it?
If you are going off road-ish then your car would benefit from being lifted or at least a skidplate.
These cars are borderline low even for a crappy paved environment.

Koni reds. I have had several suspensions over the 20 years of ownership. A belly pan would be better if you go on unpaved roads. As said the oil pan is Alum.
