good morning,
2003 jetta wagon, tdi, 220,000 miles
doing a intake cleaning along with some EGR refinement .
i am adding a pyrometer and i noticed most the recommended location
is between the r's on the cast in Garrett on the exhaust manifold . mine does not
have garrett cast into the manifold, it has the number 2211-1 cast in and
there are some audi circles on the driver side.
any idea what manifold this is?
thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

Craig, I am confused. The link goes to a complete turbo, not just an intake manifold. With the manifold off a better place to drill is at the inlet of the turbo down on the side of the manifold.

exhaust manifold

hello Nevada ,
i took off the intake for a cleaning, and it needed it badly, i drilled and mounted
the exhaust manifold for a pyrometer. i was expecting the exhaust manifold to have Garrett cast into it, but it looks like am non-OEM exhaust manifold and turbo. i am worried that this may be a poor quality off brand unit.
the Car is running very good , feels like a totaly different car.
thanks for replying, and have a good evening

There are just too many to list....
Except for a couple months of very early 1998 ALHs (that all blew up right away), all ALHs sold here have a Garrett turbo from the factory.

The word "Garrett" will be in the aluminum compressor housing, and there will be a little blue printed metal tag also on that housing.

I've always stuck the probe in the runner from cyl 4, just about even with #3 pointed straight back
just seemed the most convenient location at the time.

1 and 4 are the hot cylinders anyways due to intake manifold design, may as well get the 'worst case' EGT number
