Yes, it was a 1981 Chevy Caprice with the 350 Olds Diesel it served us well!
We did go thru 2 FI pumps over the years and it left us with a Gas engine

I had one of those! Mine had the last generation Goodwrench diesel. Bulletproof. Loads of power! Wish I still had it, just to prove that the General FINALLY got it right.......though too late.

An '05 MBZ E-320 CDI (W-211) replaced the '10 TDI JSW
Is it a 5.7L or a 4.3L V8

A relic of the past that ruined the reputation of diesel car in the U.S. for years:

Not my car, or my neighbors car, etc. blah de blah blah.
Many of the Cutlass models (not the wagons) were built with the 4.3L V8
with only 97 horsepower, complete with the 200 TH puny tranny.
Also know as the 97 pound weakling!

Can you believe that the calibration of the Rossamaster (SP?)
pump was the same for both the 4.3 and the 5.7?
When people hit wide open throttle with their 4.3L, you could tell which motor was
under the hood without being close enough to read the numbers on the deck lid.

Don't see many of either sized motor around much any longer.

I had a 1982 Cutlass Supreme with the V6 true diesel engine. I bought the car used for $3700 with about 35000 miles. The car was great except it was a pain in the winter if it was not plugged in.

I was riding my bike home from class the other day in corvallis and heard a diesel cutless like this one, just noticed that it sounded different... just like an old gm diesel does.
