Hello all,

This is my first post. Hopefully in the right spot. I just purchased my first TDI. I am now trying to find a reliable and trustworthy TDI mechanic in Edmonton so I can move away from the Dealer rates. I thought that this would be a great place to start to see who people would recommend. I am sure I am not the only Jetta owner from Edmonton here.

Welcome to the "family" !!

The short answer would be... to do most of the basic maintenance stuff yourself !!! Oil/filters/brakes are quite easy to do on these cars, and with the help of this website, you'll find that you also save time as well as money !!

Put on your reading hat, and do a bit of reading... check out the "Articles" link at the top of the page... (you've got an A4, by the way)... also, click on the "Support the TDI-Club" link up there, and see if you can watch some of the how-to movies...

All the best,

Yuri.

PS: for parts, many of us mail order from http://www.roselandtech.ca/VWPartsA4.htmhttp://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/roseland/ and as for oil.. lots of opinions... the Esso XD-3 (0W-40) and Petro Canada Duron (5W-40) seem to be fairly easy to find in Canada...
