Smelly AC

Anyone here tackled smelly AC in their q7? We have a 2011 and the AC stinks like locker room or smelly socks.

Is there a better way to spray it other than through the dash vents?

I believe it is mold on the AC cold exchanger.

spraying thru the vents but also pull the cabin filter and spray the stuff in there before putting a new one in.
I was getting that smell and since I had just changed the cabin filter a few months before I tried to spray the filter and re-install. the smell came back just a few days later. sprayed everything again and changed the filter took care of it. since its spring and wet, check the air intake area in front of windshield for buildup of wet leaves, pine needles or dirt in corners mildewing.

found a TSB on it for the q7 with pics on where the intake on recirc is.... I am going to do this to my wife's q7.

I may use Lysol disinfectant spray or Odor Stop... looks like most of these deodorizers are mainly pressurized ethanol, a benzyl ammonia chloride and/or fragrance.

Change your pollen filter... That will fix it

The debris in the old filter is decomposing and causing the smell...

I will look at the filter, but normal vents are smell free. It's only when the AC is on.

Odor stop into the intake in the passenger foot area worked.
