My thermodynamics teacher had a diesel. Had 340k miles on it and he drove everyday. That's was around 2002. Had some money and started looking for a diesel and the only one that was newer and for sale was the TD around do 2006. 2003 alhs were to much so ended up getting a used Altima. That does after 8 years of use it died and vowed to get an alh. Found one a month later which is my current car. I have has my problems, but I still love it.

Back in '08 when it cost $25 to fill the tank and you could go forever on a tank life was great.

Fell off of the turnip truck mostly. I did notice that a TDI being that it burns Diesel is just more efficient than a gasser so I thought I would take a chance. Glad I did.

Decided to get out of a 2002 BMW 325Xi wagon. Nice car, comfy, 24.5mpg AVG. 13 yr. old technology, no BT. Getting into a 2012 Golf TDI was a no brainer. Should be much cheaper to service, and way cheaper to drive. Also faster than my wagon....

After the first kid arrived, and having two 2 door cars F-150 and Firebird, needed something to get a car seat into easier. Helped that the body style change happened on the Jetta that year, and they still had the last year model in stock, no frills, crank windows, manual, white. It was too cheap to pass up, and none of the emissions nonsense TX was forced into for selected counties.
