This may be buried in the forums somewhere, but just thought I would ask here. I'm about to work out a deal on a new 2016 Treg TDI Lux. Does the 120k warranty of the engine/aftertreatment/DEF system apply to the new vehicles as well, or is that only if you were an owner before the fix?

I would ask the dealer, but I have a feeling they aren't going to have a clue. Thanks in advance.

It applies to the new vehicles as well, to protect the covered systems from failure due to the extra strain being potentially put on them by the fixed ecu

Excellent, good to hear.

Just an FYI, to give guys an idea what the new Touaregs are starting to go for, I locked in a 2016 Lux (Flint Grey, Black Leather, Towing, etc) for $41,900 including destination charges. Original MSRP was $56,300. Probably about what they should be priced at, but it was the best deal I could find. VW Credit is also offering 0% for the 2017's, so hoping I might be able to land that as well.

If it’s similar to the 2015 Golf/GSW 162k mile/11-year warranty, then yes. The extended warranty covers the re-released stop-sale “new” vehicles.

Sounds like a real good deal to me. Dealerships around here are asking MSRP.

I thought so as well, pretty hard to turn down. I have a deposit on the car so we'll see how it all pans out.

Whether or not to purchase a leftover new Gen 2 3.0 really depends on how they perform after being neutered and by the deal being presented, not necessarily in that order.

I've been driving my fixed 2014 Touareg for a couple months now, the changes are very minor and I have no second thoughts about replacing it with anything but another Touareg TDI.

Sounds like you're getting a good vehicle for a good price. Best of luck with it. Hopefully it will perform as well as your 2014.

Curious, has anyone verified in the court documents that the "new" vehicles are in fact covered by the 10yr/120k warranty? Everyone seems to agree they are covered, but I'm not sure where it states it in the documents for new owners.

I will dig into it, but just want to make sure I have it in writing if my 2016 3.0 needs work in the future.

Settlement only covers cars registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles prior to January 1, 2017. Perhaps the warranty on the “new” cars is handled elsewhere.

My newly purchased 2016 came with a booklet fully explaining what is covered with the 10 year 120,000 mile warranty. The same booklet had also been sent to me in the mail pertaining to the 2015 3.0 car I traded in.

I don’t read this as 10 year 120k... looks like the OR 4 yr 48k is what comes with new cars... since it states from the fix .

Edit: re read it looks like the 4yr 48k is for high mileage folks , so if they have 100+k when they get a fix , they are covered for 4 years or 48k so the 10 year does apply to new purchase?

Did your purchase come with an extended warranty or not? Reason I ask, someone I know looking at an Audi right now was told only 4/48.
