Sadly, it is time to part with my beloved MKIV manual Golf. 2 kids + 3 cars = no time to maintain at home, and I can't bear to see this great little hatchback sit unused. That, and the wife is tired of paying insurance on it...
Asking $1000 from the TDIclub family. I want to see this get to a good home.
Here are the vitals:
2000 VW Golf TDI GLS
~150000 miles (148470 earlier this week)
manual (5 speed) transmission
red exterior
black cloth interior
power sunroof
trunk-mounted CD changer
2 official VW keys
VA state inspection good through June 2020
All maintenance records back to purchase in 2002
- 95% maintenance done by independent diesel specialist in Charlottesville
Battery replaced September 2014
Timing belt replacement done 2002 @ 69000 miles
And here are the warts (most seen in pictures):
- paint is suffering from classic VW clearcoat disease
- some minor rust around left front fender
- glove box handle and one hinge broken (but box is still functional)
- needs some interior trim work
- headliner falling in places
- airbag sensor has a fault (does not fail inspection)
- rear wiper has been removed
- AC is stuck on "heat". This is NOT a compressor problem, but a problem with the cables that connect to the manual dash controls. Requires a few dollars in parts an several hours of dash disassemble/reassembly.
- radiator has a slow leak
- clutch will need replaced in <10000 miles
- tires will need replaced in <10000 miles
Ok, so it definitely needs some TLC. But where it counts, this MKIV still runs like a top. Engine and gearbox are in great shape.
Price is negotiable, but please no lowballs. Anyone who knows the difference between a glow plug and a spark plug will realize this ride is worth the effort.
