For sale is my beloved Diesel.
We have spend 8 years and travelled 140k miles together (2nd owner, 155k odo) from New York to LA, from Newfoundland to Key West and even into Northern Canada. It pains me to put my noble steed up for sale but a new job at a BMW Dealer and a new 15 year old Z4 (3.0 6 Speed) without off street parking at home means it no longer makes any sense at all to keep this thing.
Onto it:
-2006.5 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 1.9 (BRM)
-Black on Dark Grey Interior
-155,xxx miles
-Manual Transmission
-2nd Owner
-Package 2: Leather, Power Driver Seat, Homelink, MFD, Rear Roller Blind, etc.
-8 Airbags
Mods:
-Euro 6 Speed Long Ratio Gear Box (1800rpm at 65mph. 50-60 MPG Highway)
-Golf R Clutch and Flywheel
-GTI Brakes
-GTI Steering Wheel
-GTI 18inch Huffs
-Replica Bi-Xenon Headlights (Halogen Bulbs Installed but working ballasts still present)
-OEM Roof Rack
-Modified Volant Air Intake (not installed, needs adapter pipe)
-OEM Fog Lights (not wired)
-OEM RCD 510 Headunit
-Oh, and I let my friends cut off the muffler one night. It's straight piped from axle back with a single Corvette Z06 exhaust tip. It really didn't change much to the sound. Sounds like a damn beast with the intake installed.
The Bad:
-Intermittent Check Engine Light (ASV stuck closed is the code. It's not closed or it wouldn't turn on. Not sure.)
-A/C barely works. I don't know why but my hunch is the climatic module.
-Passenger Door Module is Faulty. Sets off car alarm.
-Belt Tensioner needs to be replaced
-Needs two wheel bearings (1 front and 1 back)
-1 Small patch of rush bubbles per wheel well (4 total. Paint still intact. Not noticeable from 10 feet)
-Bulb Out Warning. (All bulbs I unplugged myself. 2 city lights and one reverse light. The latter is due to an unfinished rear fog light)
-Memory Seats don't work. (Wiring problem. I replaced the driver's seat and did a bad job rewiring)
-Due for a Timing Belt in 5-25k. Your Choice.
-Due for a Battery
-Oh, it's a Canadian Car. Currently registered in California with tags and smog good until July. Your friends will think your car goes 260mph.
The Good:
-EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS!
-New Tires
-New Brakes
-Interior 9.5/10
-Exterior 8.5/10 Only Dings and chips, no dents. Could use a detail. A little paint has peeled from the front bumper.
-Oil Changes on time and running Mobil1 TDT (Turbo Diesel Truck) oil since oem cam replacement around 100k miles.
-Oh, and special shoutout to this transmission. A few years ago I paypaled dutchautoparts a bunch of money for a 6 speed conversion and impatiently waited for the crate to arrive. Unbelievable. It felt brand new then and still does 40k miles later. Proper rev-matched shifts, always. I burn tires, not clutch.
It needs a little work. I need $4400 OBO to let it go.
