Fed up of all the rust, and want to cover it up without much effort at all. I also don't care much for a glossy high maintenance finish, so I thought I'd make my car flat black, and add details to give it a tank car theme.

Any suggestions or advice? What kind of paint should I use? I want something durable that'll stick very well. I thought maybe BBQ paint. Any idea? Sand and paint over factory paint? Primer?

Prep is key, once prepped you might consider paying someone unless you got experience with this sort of thing.
I've read of products that will halt rust, but everyone I've seen comes thru in a relatively short time. Notice the vertical lines on the tanker, hides a lot. On a car you can add texture (sand?pebbles?) to hide.
