I am not sure if this has been posted previously. Apologies if it has.

I replaced my noisy dual mass flywheel in my 2006 Jetta at 66+K miles... couple of months ago

Today I cut open the main flywheel section with the floating ring in it. The floating ring is where the drive hub rivets to, the hub drives the DSG trans input shaft.

There was a large amount of grease, two spring sections with dual springs that work against the floating ring.

Below is the whole assembly minus the section cut off

below is the floating ring section

Anyone going to volunteer to buy a new "revised" DMF for a DSG and cut one open to see what the differences are? :)

In all seriousness, it would be interesting to see how the DMF for the DSG and the 5spd differer by internals (I know the 5spd has a clutch surface where the DSG has just a hub, but are the springs set up the same, etc).
