Forgot to mention...my multi-function display indicated 50.6 mpg for this first tank...so at least with this first tank, my MFD was biased high ~10%.

I also calibrated my odometer, it seems to be accurate to within +/- 1%

As a follow up to this weekend trip.
After getting to the hotel, we drove city for about 70 miles, very bad Tstorms, lots of water on the road, heavy rain, some highway and mostly stop and go traffic around the Disney area in Orlando.

On the way home, we drove spirited, also about 30% of the drive was with heavy storm.
at the current rate, I probably won't hit 600 miles on this tank, but should end up north of 500 for sure, most likely around 550-575 is my guess.

607 miles before fuel light. It went on 2 tenth after this pic reading 70 on the to-go meter. Not this time but someone will make a 700 mile tank soon

I just noticed that they changed the water temperature gauge to read "200" at the normal position, rather than the previous 190 even though it ran 200 anyway.

Already am. There are 47 15's on Fuelly as of today. About one a day since mid August.

I am surprised but I still have the best mileage listed. There are a bunch of cars close though.

That's pretty good!
Most of my driving is in town, some on highway ... IT Service, between customer sites all the time... I'm not expecting my average to be as high as many others, but I love the occasional highway trip that I can CC and relax, watch the FE rise.

I'd love to fill up, and CC @ 65mph till empty - I'd guess I'd end up just north of Atlanta, GA.

That's me! Thanks for letting me know. Didn't realize I had to choose an engine when I selected the TDI. I guess I expected Fuelly to be smarter than that. I just corrected it.

I bought the car assuming I would do better than my Passat but over 50? damn! I drive over 20k a year so the extra MPGs add up

BadWolf---can you verify the same commute as with your Passat, I believe you said that before but can not recall completely. If so, even going from DSG to standard, that is a very impressive 20% increase.

Same exact commute. 25 miles mostly country roads about 6 miles of highway. I am above average in the Passats but only just above average so very surprised I am doing so much better in he golf. The one difference is the Passat is the DSG
