Hi,

I'm looking to order some sway bar bushings from IDParts and they have a few different options. Would anyone be able to tell me what size sway bar I would have on my 2000 Beetle? They give options of 21 mm or 23 mm.

Thanks!!

An open end wrench makes a good measuring tool for the sway bar.

You really must measure.

Also, if you're in the rust belt, you may have to account for some rust scale.:D

Also, even with the correct size you'll think they are wrong when you go to replace them:mad:. I just did them on my son's 2000 Jetta (21 mm BTW).

Make sure you have the correct brackets as well. The newer bushings won't work with the old (flat) brackets.

Thanks for the input. I called the dealership in Omaha and gave them the VIN and they told me they're 23 mm, so that's what I ordered. Fully planning on things not working-out, so if by chance they do, well, maybe I'll build myself a cake or something to celebrate.

Ya I'm in the process of doing mine and the rust scale is to the point that the bushings will not fit. I will remove the rust scale tomorrow and give it another try.

protip, hammer takes scale off better than any abrasive
