Two questions:
1. What does it take to create/store a DTC? I'm trying to induce a fault to make sure the MIL works, but pulling the MAF, glow plug, etc, isn't making the MIL turn on.
2. On a stock MkIV TDI, what readiness values are typically shown? (this is where I wish I still had my '01 jetta).

Mode 01 - PID 01 : Readiness -- Address 10
Number of DTCs stored: 0 -- MIL Status: MIL OFF

Is your computer stock? Pulling the MAF should set a fault and CEL right away.

I recall my 99.5 (which uses the older MAS15 computer) does report some of the monitors as installed.

Unplug the injector pump and third injector. That will make the CEL come on and those codes will survive a reboot of the computer as well.

The computer has an Immo delete and a stage 1 tune (Malone), however I got the same results with restoring the stock tune.

Regardless of fault codes, MIL status stays as "MIL OFF".
