Camshaft wiring to ECU voltages

I've got a Golf a 2004 MK5 1.9TDI that takes ages to start.
Checking the error code shows "P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor (G40)" code.

I had replaced the sensor, but still getting the same code - still takes long time to start. Still showing the same code even after clearing it.

So checking the wiring, ignition on
Wire 1 = 5v (live)
Wire 2 = 5v (Sensor signal)
Wire 3 = Ground (Earth)

I think the cabling looks ok - maybe it's a faulty new sensor OR maybe Wire 1 and Wire 2 are shorted ?

Anyone know if the voltages are okay ?

Also is there any diagram to show where these cable terminate at the ECU ?

The 5 volt reference is correct. Im pretty sure you’ll need a scope to see the change in the 5 volt signal @ the ECU( the volt meter won’t pick up the pull down - It should look like a square wave)

I suppose you can check for continuity on that signal wire to check for breaks

I believe vcds output test will show that signal

Actually, I was thinking of the n75 signal

Where did you purchase the new cam sensor? I too replaced a perfectly good cam sensor with one from a trusted vendor on here. Turns out it was not OEM and resulted in longer cranking time and a CEL.
