A friend bought a new Autozone Axle and I installed it for him. I torqued the axle bolt to 148 Lb/feet and another 90 degrees assuming it was an M16 bolt like the OEM bolts. The bolt had a hex head. Now I find out it may have been an M14. Anyone know what bolt is in these axles?

Do not install AutoZone axles unless you like failures and vibration.

^^^I know all that ****. The newest generation of NEW axles from them are a lot better and we're rebuilding the OE one, but need something in there till that gets done.

The bolts go in to the transmission flanges, not the axles... Unless something has drastically changed between the stuff I've worked on and the B5...

I'm talking about the axle bolt (clamps to hub) which is either an M14 or M16, not the M10 CV joint bolts. I assumed it was an M16 because it had a hex head. Since it's aftermarket, it may be an M14. Autozone said I can open a box and measure a bolt.
