Hey guys I acquired a 05.5 Jetta with a brm motor and the DMF exploded. That is why I got it cheap. I pulled the motor and trans out of car. Now I am looking at replacing the trans and DMF and putting back together. I wasn't sure it was DMF before I pulled or I would have left in engine bay. Anyways my question is do all BRM's have pilot bushings. The motor that came out of my 05.5 has a pilot bushing while the parts motor and trans that I got out of another Jetta brm does not have a pilot bushing. I do not understand. Both cars were the dsg transmissions. So what is the difference. Can anyone shed some light on this I am baffled and ready to order parts so I can start putting it back together. Thanks Mickey

Some did and some did not. Can't say when that changed.

They list the needle bearing for both 2005.5 and 2006 BRMs in the ETKA catalog so it was probably an improvement made sometime during the production runs...or a screw up by not putting it there in the first place.
Not an expensive part.

Which way

Hey Jeetah I have another question. I removed the pilot bearing using the bread trick I saw on youtube worked great anyway. just got my parts in today from Idparts and just wanting to make sure I am 100% correct. The new bushing looks like on one end of it, it has like a rubber seal, that end goes toward the trans side correct. Sorry if this sounds anil, its my OCD kicking in.
thanks Mickey

Yes, that is the side that needs the seal.
