Just paid $3.499 at a Propel pump in West Sacramento at a Chevron station. The Chevron diesel was $4.399.
Yeah, we used to see prices ease with demand for heating oil in the spring as well, but like you said, there are so many more exports now that the old rules don’t really apply anymore.Historically, gasoline prices rise versus diesel at this time of year; and, on average, by May 10th there are many states where diesel is cheaper than RUG.
However, foreign countries, especially in Latin America, have become more dependent on diesel supplies from the US. And as a result the current inventories of distillate fuels including diesel are down significantly from a year ago.
So I do not expect to see ULSD cheaper than RUG this year, except on the West Coast where gasoline prices are way more than the rest of the country.
