Hello all

New owner of a 2014 TDI and excited to drive it. I live in Canada where winter tires are required by law. For winter tires/wheels I used to go 1 size down and I searched this forum with conflicting info. Some say if I go down to 195/65/15 it won't clear the brakes and some say it's ok.
Can anybody confirm this?

Take a look at your spare tire, what size is it?

If you calculate the diameter and circumference of the stock tire/wheel and find a corresponding winter tire of equal diameter and circumference, you should be good.

My wife’s jetta stock size was 225/45R17 (if I remember correctly), which is just under 25” diameter. There was a lot of snow tire varieties available in the 16” option. So I ended up getting 195/60R16 which was just a bit over 25” diameter.

And I really like the thinner 195mm winter tire option compared to the wider stock tire size for summer tires.
