looking for a diesel mechanic in the baltimore area

I use Oliver located in Baltimore (Hamilton area). His screename here is: tdiracing. He is the rockstar mechanic of the entire country.

Oliver has a fairly early membership number. He doesn't post that often but is not a newbie.

Ddi not even know there wa a membership #. Where are they located?
Oliver has been wrenching on TDI's for more than 10 years and was one of, if not the first person in the USA to achive more than 200HP in an ALH that was reliable, useable and test proven.
He will not let a car out of his garage that is questionable after a repair. He will not use substandard parts for ANY repairs.
Most importantly (to me) he has a knack for keeping up on TDI news, changes, parts/vendors that work and stand behind thier products. While this site is awsome, it is also has it's share of bad info, bullies, and mean spirtied members and "Johnny come lately" vendors.
There is something to be said for a person so quiet and modest who puts quality above personal gain.

Sorry Gut. I was just singing Oliver's praises, not saying you had anything negative to say. Now that i look at my post i see how you could have gotten the wrong impression. My sincere apoligies for the confusion.

I have never met Oliver and do not know if he will be interested in working on an older non-TDI Volkswagen diesel.
But if not, then he should be able to recommend someone else.

Looks as if you are not local anyway. Use this forum section (at the top) stickied there is a post entitled "Trusted Mechanics". Use that it lists mechanics/specialists state by state.
BTW- not speaking for Oliver, but I believe he will work on any year TDI. Not sure if he will work on WVO cars or not. Most mechanics here want no part of the WVO cars.TornadoRed said:

Lilred, the OP said he had a 1990 Jetta diesel -- not a TDI, but one of these:

Sorry. i should have been more specific. I am sure he will work on those as well. i cannot speak of his direct expirience with MK1"s, II's.
