NB stall - semi stall

My son's 98 NB is having symptoms that seem to me like a fuel problem -- and starting since he had the fuel filter changed.

While driving -- any speed, any temperature -- if lifting off the fuel pedal or between gears for a time, the car wil stall or almost stall. Hitting the fuel pedal hard again *might* pull out of the stall. When it stalls, it's instant engine death. Will restart easily after stopping using the ignition. Trying to start after a stall without turning the key off and on will give a start that has power loss until it dies again. There's a time when there's no power but it hasn't really stalled.

This car has had tons of electrical problems in the wake of a very bad battery (haqve replaced battery +MAF + crank sensor + coolant sensor).

Ideas? Help?

Possible bad pedal sensor? Remember, you have an electronic gas pedal in these cars.

Take a look at the transparent fuel line running from the filter: Do you have bubbles in there? If so, you may have a loose hose, causing the car to starve for fuel when the revs drop.

First thing I did. The 98 has a solid rubber fuel line. It seems like a fuel problem for sure...
