Fewer Appointments from July?

I was just rescheduling my BB appointment for the last time (moving and reg due in July) and noticed that some of the dealers are showing less available days in July than before. 3-4 days showing versus 1-2 days a week, and a couple with Saturday slots don't show those in July. I've been rescheduling since FEB and have not seen this before. This is in the LA area, not sure if VW is cutting down there contracted folks due to lower demand now or something else. Seems like the 3.0 ones should be keeping them busy while the 2.0s quiet down (until the end of 2018).

I turned in a car in early May. The buyback specialist said they were cutting back and she was asked to either travel to far away dealerships or lose her job.

Pure guess. vw is not paying her more than $200 per day IMO.

From other threads they were saying about 10 cars per day.

Letting (making) owner wait several more days is a crying shame on vw

I was in my dealership a month ago. They were not working but 4 days a week there, back then

My guess is they will start frequenting more Audi dealerships and less VW dealerships in the near future...

But yeah, I think the overall volume of buybacks is just declining, so they are using less people who need to travel to more dealerships.

Talking to a rep over the weekend, the 3.0L process is different from the 2.0L. The are going to roll out a lot of training and I *think* she said they are targeting July 1 for the 3.0 start date.
Making my own wild guess... but if they are planning on launching a whole new set of buybacks that month perhaps they're limiting 2.0L appointments to hold space for the onslaught of 3.0L appointments? Surely the 3.0L owners have pent up demand and will be more vocal about the limited availability than 2.0L customers who've already waited this long?

Sure— and how is not the fewer appointment days not predictable as the volume of turn-ins declines? I would expect that by this time next year, appointments at a given dealer may be just that: you make an appointment, and someone comes on that time, on that day. What is more likely is that some dealers may have only one appointment day a month, and people may have to travel farther, because some dealers may not be doing turn-ins at all. It certainly makes no sense for VW to be paying these reps to be sitting around seeing how sharp they can make a #2 pencil.......

Yes, I suspect it's a result of (anticipated) reduced volume. Though I question how well it complies with the settlement's requirement that owners have a choice of times and days of the week--my local dealer is only scheduling appointments one day a week starting in July.

Don't think they can make people travel farther, though; they need to buy back cars at any dealer.
