2005 auto

Looking at a clean 2005 wagon but it only has reverse. Won’t go forward? Only wants 700 for it. Steer clear or snatch it up?

The actual shifter will move to drive but nothing happens in all forward gears.

Could be a bunch of things. Most likely your options are to
a. replace the transmission with a new or used
b. convert to a 5 speed

Also need to know if the balance shaft has been dealt with. Once things are sorted out, they are great cars.

I guess cost associated with repair is the big question. It has 300K miles

If you can wrench yourself its worth it if the car is very clean.

If you cant and need to pay someone its only worth it if you think the b5.5 is the best car ever made.

At 300k the cam should also be inspected.
