CAR SENTIMENTS

This car is beloved by our family. We bought the car in 2015 for our son's high school graduation. Our son wanted a diesel truck but found this wagon. This car has a personality and her name is DAISY. We bought it with 140,000 miles on it. It has spent its life in Southern Missouri, North Arkansas and Central Kansas with summers in New Mexico, Minnesota and Little Rock AR. This car has delivered our son safely and has had no breakdowns. It has been twice to New Mexico, once to Duluth, Minnesota, several trips back and forth to Kansas and several trips back and forth to Little Rock.
WHY AM I SELLING THE CAR?

The last oil change at 215,000 our mechanic said she needed a new diesel injector pump. Some tears fell and we decided to sell the car.
I gave my son my '06 Honda Pilot (more tears fell because I love this car) and I am buying a 1997 Mazda Miata. On snowy days, I guess I will drive the '67 Toyota FJ40 - maybe not....maybe the 1985 Ford F250 (don't care if this gets dented).
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT DAISY:)
  • She is a beautiful and sexy car.
  • She starts every time
  • She has very, dark tinted windows
  • Interior is in good shape - some holes in driver's side and passenger but patched
  • Silver exterior - sexy!
  • She got new headlights and she really lights up - No cloudy, cataract eyes like some of the older ladies have.
  • New tires at 212,000
  • Time Belt at 143,470 w/ water pump
  • She got a new transmission at 193,000. We joke she had a sex change because she went from an automatic to a manual. We thought about changing her name to Dick, but once a Daisy always a Daisy.
  • She has had synthetic oil and regular service since we have had her. The previous owner told us to us synthetic oil.
  • She gets great gas mileage.
  • Nice exterior, slight damage back bumper. No rust.
  • Heat and Air work great.
  • Nice/heavy duty floor mats.
  • Back Interior very little wear.
THINGS ANNOYING ABOUT DAISY - BROKEN BUT NOT CRITICAL
  • Key Fobs do not work but have both
  • Daisy's heated seats overheat and shock you. This came in handy on a girlfriend my son wasn't crazy about. Shocked her pretty good.
  • Daisy has a cracked passenger windshield, top left.
  • Daisy has started leaking when it rains. This started again recently. Had to an autobody to fix and paid $214 a couple of years ago. Connector was broken. I think she has the same problem. We tried to use the weedeater string to clean out the tubes, but didn't work. She has incontinence (common with older ladies). Put a tarp on when it rains.
  • Daisy's latch on center console is broken. Keep it closed with an elastic cord - works fine.
  • Daisy has a headliner that is falling. Told her that older women sag in various places and to not worry about it.
  • Daisy has been repainted on the doors left side and don't know why. Some peeling at top of the door.
  • Daisy has a scuffed back driver's side bumper. Some dummy hit her while she was at college for no reason.
CRITICAL PROBLEMS WITH DAISY
  • Needs diesel injector pump. Car still runs fine. Mechanic says while you are doing this you should replace timing belt and water pump.
  • Has a cracked motor mount.
  • Has not been critical but can fix with time belt, she leaks some oil.
So this is Daisy's story. I have all the service records. She will continue to be a great car for someone but it needs to be the right someone. There is a love letter waiting for you in her glove box.

With those problems I'd say $1500 more realistic. Pump and timing belt you're looking at $2k-$2500parts and labor, then whatever oil leak, water leak, and cracked windshield/motor mount add.....

Yep - looks like a well-loved and appreciated car, but with those issues, price seems on the high side.

Good luck with the sale.

There are just too many to list....
Fix it and keep it. I send out injection pumps to DFIS for rebuilds all the time, no big deal. I almost always have one sent out there it seems lately.
